About TDengine

TDengine is a next generation data historian purpose-built for Industry 4.0 and Industrial IoT. It enables real-time data ingestion, storage, analysis, and distribution of petabytes per day, generated by billions of sensors and data collectors. With TDengine making big data affordable and accessible, digital transformation has never been easier.

What’s New

  • Updated monitoring dashboard: TDinsight now includes a variety of additional metrics and updated dashboard to improve observability and make monitoring your TDengine clusters even easier.
  • Data compression between agents and TDengine: Data sent from an agent to TDengine is now compressed in flight to reduce bandwidth on public networks.
  • Improved performance for caching: The LAST() and LAST_ROW() functions have received various performance improvements. Notably, the performance of LAST_ROW() is significantly increased when a query includes a column that is entirely null.
  • (TDengine Enterprise only) Wonderware Historian connector: You can now integrate TDengine with Wonderware Historian data sources (now known as AVEVA Historian). This extends TDengine’s coverage of legacy historians and allows the centralization and sharing of more operational data. For more information, see TDengine for Wonderware Historian.
  • (TDengine Enterprise only) Improved performance for industrial data sources: Ingesting data from PI System and OPC sources is faster and more stable.

  • You can deploy TDengine Enterprise on mainstream Linux distributions and Windows.
  • You can deploy TDengine OSS Server on mainstream Linux distributions and macOS.
  • You can deploy TDengine OSS Client on mainstream Linux distributions, macOS, and Windows.

You can also run TDengine in Kubernetes or in Docker containers. See Supported Platforms for details about the compatibility of TDengine with various architectures and operating systems.

Note: You must upgrade existing clients to TDengine before connecting to a TDengine server.

Upgrading to TDengine

Upgrading TDengine OSS

You can upgrade TDengine OSS to version from version or later.

To upgrade TDengine OSS, first back up your deployment by making a copy of the TDengine directory. After verifying that your deployment has been backed up, install TDengine as described in the official documentation. It is not necessary to uninstall TDengine before upgrading.

Note: If you have deployed TDengine as a cluster, you must shut down and upgrade all nodes in the cluster to TDengine Rolling upgrades are not supported in TDengine

Upgrading TDengine Enterprise and TDengine Cloud

Contact your account representative for assistance in upgrading TDengine Enterprise or TDengine Cloud.

You can check your current version of TDengine at any time by running the SELECT SERVER_VERSION(); command.
